It’s a landmark year. 2021 marks the 150th birthdays of prominent and talented Hamilton architects, Walter Wilson Stewart & William Palmer Witton. Stay tuned for more here as we post about their buildings’ architecture, the stories behind their work, walking tours, events, contests — the list goes on!
Both born in 1871, Stewart & Witton created many of Hamilton’s most cherished landmarks, like St. Giles church, the James Street Armoury, the Playhouse Cinema, Herkimer Apartments, and many others — too many of which have already been lost to demolition.
